The Instant Pot® sealing ring is an integral part of the Instant Pot® safety mechanism. It is designed, developed, and manufactured using the optimal material to achieve the hardness and strength necessary to withstand the high pressure of electric pressure cooking. Instant Pot® sealing rings have been tested and approved by UL, FDA, and LFGB for safety, including food safety. To ensure your Instant Pot® multicooker continues to perform as intended, use only authentic Instant Pot® sealing rings with your Instant Pot® multicooker. It is recommended that you replace your Instant Pot® sealing ring every 12–18 months. Because the sealing ring is porous and can absorb odors and discolor, consider replacing it every 6–12 months to prevent discoloration and odors.
